Hunting and Wildlife Management

Throughout most of the year, the wildlife at Toney's Place roams freely and serves as an exciting attraction for local and out of town visitors. To maintain the health of our herds and our land we use a state of the art pivot feeding system to spread feed in their natural habitat. This method of grazing management encourages foraging, a behavior that plays an important role in the wellness and fitness of our animals.

Because the wildlife population is safe, comfortable and healthy, the population sometimes needs to be reduced to maintain the quality and quantity of our herds and the ecological balance in the preserve. While we can sometimes manage population by sending wildlife to live at other parks and preserves, there are not enough places to send our livestock to adequately reduce population. For this reason, Toney's Place is periodically closed for public access for a limited number of days to allow for hunting.
